Swim Smart & Swim Safe

As a sea-faring community, we are people of the water. Through our Lifesaving Society swimming lesson program, we teach individuals everything from the fundamentals of swimming to skills and stroke refinement. Our program also educates about water and ice safety.

Stay tuned for announcements on this website and Facebook about swimming lesson dates and times.

Continually Refining our Approach:

A cornerstone of our swimming program is to maximize access to lessons in our community.  This does not come easy, as we already know that demand for swimming lessons in a single 4-week session can often exceed our pool capacity.

This season we are opening registration for our full Fall and Winter seasons allowing students to register in multiple sessions per season.  It is still our recommendation is that students wait to receive their results before registering in the next session, but we understand the seasonal scheduling concerns of our parents and community.

We’ve also designed our sessions into 4 weeks with a goal of 8 sessions (courses) per school year, with additional sessions in the summer months, ensuring many opportunities for swimmers to advance their swimming over a 12-month period.

4 Week Sessions:

  • Our current program delivers lessons twice per week over a 4-week session

  • Two lessons per week helps young swimmers learn and develop foundational swimming skills, setting them up for success

8 Sessions (courses) per year, 2 Sessions per season:

  • Multiple sessions across the 4 seasons provides many opportunities for swimmers to advance their swimming over a 12-month period

  • Seasons:

  • Fall September to December

  • Winter December to March

  • Spring March to June

  • Summer June to September

 Access:

Registration is available in person at both of our facilities as well as by phone. While online registration is available for our other programs, this doesn't allow our team to help ensure students are place in the appropriate levels to support their progress.

With your feedback, we will continue to evaluate and improve how we deliver our swimming programs, including schedule and registration.

 Thank you for your support.
