Lets Git-R-Done!

With funding confirmed for the Mariners Centre Expansion last fall, the next phase of the Mariners Centre Expansion is underway!

Brophy is second line, 10 from the house…

Marc Brophy, a successful Construction Engineer who has made Yarmouth his home, stepped into the role of Project Lead this past December and has immediately made an impact.

His focus is to get a new stellar recreation centre built for Yarmouth. Having spent the last few years as Town Engineer he’s now “enjoying” retirement by helping to engineer the initial stages of our project. True community spirit, but more importantly, a whole lifetime of experience in building things and captaining big projects.

He has recently, in lightning speed, gotten a Request for Proposal out to hire an architecture firm for the design of the new facility.  Right now we have secured 30 million in Government funding from all three levels of government and have narrowed down what our needs are.

Brophy wants to be realistic but still dreams big. His forthwith, no nonsense manner, cuts the project into manageable chunks, and he has a plan to have shovels in the ground in spring of 2024 and an opening date of fall of 2026.

“There’s lots of work to do”, Brophy says, “but the will is there and the time is right. Communities that come together can get things done!
