You don’t have to be a user for it to matter to you!

When Bill Cox was mid-career, he got a great job offer from another Maritime Town. As soon as his interview was over, he scooted around town to see what recreation facilities were available for his family of three, active, swimming daughters. There was not a suitable pool. Bill didn’t take the job and we got to keep his family here in Yarmouth. We won that round.

Bill was a leader and driving force behind getting Mariners on Main revitalized and open. He understands the importance of recreation to a healthy growing community.

“The facilities we have now were constructed according to the needs, budget and standards for the time they were built, and have served us well,” Bill says. “But it’s time to up our game and compete with other towns our size.” Bill recognizes that we are now constantly competing to recruit professionals (both medical and otherwise). To attract those professionals, we need to have what their families need and expect.”

“Someone may feel they don’t need the facilities of a first-class recreation centre, but when they have a heart attack, and end up at Yarmouth Regional, they are going to be really glad that we had a Recreation Centre that met the needs of their Cardiologist’s family and helped her to choose Yarmouth!”
