APRIL 2nd: What We Heard Report Addendum Released

We are pleased to release the Addendum to the What We Heard Report for the Mariners Centre Expansion project. In January, the What We Heard Report was released, summarizing the community’s perspective and feedback on te facility’s new design and potential improvements. The Mariners Centre Expansion Board and our project architects have reviewed this feedback and assessed the pros, cons, and logistics of incorporating these changes into the final design.

The Addendum Report addresses each piece of feedback individually and provides our reasoning for what changes could or could not be reflected in the final design.

Once again, we want to thank all community members who either participated in our in-person sessions or submitted feedback online. These engagement efforts generated truly insightful feedback and identified several common themes.

Mariners Centre Expansion Design Update - December 2023

The formal engagement process on the expansion design has now closed. We encourage you to read the Addendum for updates on changes and additions to the design since the recording of this video.

If you missed the chance to participate in our formal engagement, we still want to hear your thoughts on our current design and areas for improvement. Please use the submission box below to send us your anonymous feedback, critiques, and suggestions. Should you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to contact info@marinerscentre.com. We will continue to address new feedback through our expansion FAQ page and Mariners Centre Facebook page.

We have BIG DREAMS for our region:

Mariners Centre has been central to our lives for more than 20 years. It has offered opportunities for fitness, ice sports, recreation, economic trade support, and community gatherings that keep us tightly connected to one another.

We have a vision to vastly increase the impact Mariners Centre has on the well-being of our community. We want to enjoy life to the utmost. To have a place that brings us together as a community, and critically, to have a top-notch sport and recreational facility that helps us attract and retain professionals, health workers, and those who can contribute to the local economy and our way of life.

The Mariners Centre expansion will create a new campus style community hub for sport, health and wellness, entertainment and events that will serve our region for the next 50 years.

  • As an accessible facility, an indoor walking track will offer a safe training and exercise environment for individuals wishing to maintain mobility and cardiovascular health regardless of the weather.

  • New multi-purpose spaces will support programming and activities for youth and youth at risk, families, seniors, and visitors alike.
